Just The Basics Easter Basket Ideas
We try to keep our Easter baskets simple with the basics to keep toys and clutter down while still making it fun for them. Treats are hidden in eggs so those are not in our basket. We follow the basic categories most years and they have loved it every year. These categories are great for first Easter and beyond!

This post is what my kids are getting this year but it also contains the themes so you can use them to personalize and organize your baskets year after year.

Shoes/Sandals
Where we live, you cannot wear sandals and summer shoes year round so we haven’t seen these shoes in months. Getting shiny new ones in the next size is fun and exciting for them.
- Spring Summer Sandals
- Water Shoes
- Natives/ Wet/dry shoes
Rain Gear/Boots
We wear rain boots year round, but we use them a lot in the spring/summer. I have a Rain Gear Bag packed for all our trips so the rain can never damper our fun! Essentially we make sure this bag is stocked with the next sizes.
- Rain Boots
- Umbrella
- Rain Coat
Swimwear
Like shoes, we do not see much of our swimsuits once school starts so we are always excited to get new ones in the baskets. We go the next size up in these usually as well.
- Swim suit
- Swim Shirt
- Swim Diapers
- Swim cover
- Sun Hat
Read/Need/Learn
This category is pretty broad but basically gives you a mission to think about. We almost always get a book. We almost always get a need. So we double dip in this category. This category varies from year to year but it is all based on what our individual kids need.
- Books
- Sensory
- Art Supplies
- Fine motor games
- Learning Games
- Tablewear
- Forks/spoons
- bibs
- water bottles
- cups
- Snacks
- Organization for items above

Spring/Summer Activity
We try to include something fun that is bringing in the season to the kids. Since we have such drastic difference in seasons, these items are new and exciting and available to be used the first time in a while.
- Chalk
- Kite
- Bubbles
- Swim Toys
- Goggles
- Floaties
- Life Jacket/Puddle Jumper
Pajamas
I am a sucker for matching pajamas so they basically get them for every holiday. This year I got clearance Christmas in stripes, but Old Navy has amazing matching pajamas and usually has a sale this time of year.
Want
If there is a little something our kids would love (usually not a cheap toy but a quality toy they want) we do occasionally put it in there. This year, tiny little toys are included that were for a trip we were going to take but are no longer so they are getting them in their Easter Baskets. In past years they have gotten slumberkins, princess toys they were missing, etc.
- Small Toy
