My Three Birth Stories

As my baby turns one, I am left reflecting on his birth story and how it all compared to his siblings’. A little preview and photo for each child is below and their full stories are linked!

Nolan Alex

Nolan was my first baby. I was nervous, anxious and had no idea what to expect. Nolan had an echogenic focus found on his 20 week ultrasound. We did genetic testing and all that came back normal. I began having braxton hicks 5 minutes apart starting at 28 weeks and was on medication until 36 weeks. After all the preterm labor scares, my water broke on it’s own on his due date exactly. We planned a hospital birth and 12 hours after my water breaking, Nolan was in my arms.

Stella Rose

Stella was my domino of events child. First at 20 weeks we discovered a partial placenta prevea. I went to see a specialist to make sure it was far enough away for a vaginal birth. Upon measuring that, they found it had moved enough, but they discovered she was measuring small. Im talking 1% small and head smaller than 1% small. We had to go in for growth checks frequently and at one of those they found wha they believed to be a double aortic arch. We then had to have an induction to have the team of specialists in place to check on her heart. 7 hours after the first intervention started, and coming as the doctor commented “like a freight train,” Stella was in my arms.

Bryce Anthony

Bryce was our first normal, no risk, pregnancy. He was also our first gender surprise. He was also our baby we chose to have after having an autism diagnosis in our home. It was an interesting time, with a long tiring pregnancy. We discovered our doctor (with us through all 3) was getting a shoulder replacement and retiring 2 days after our due date so we opted for an induction at 39 weeks so we could have our doctor. 7 hours after the first intervention started and after going from 4 to complete in 30 minutes, HE was here in 3 pushes and in my arms.
