Bathroom update on a small budget

Like the rest of our house, it hasn’t been updated since it was built in 2004. We wanted our master bath to have a more modern look, but there really wasn’t much of a budget. I have been LOVING black and white with a farmhouse style, so I went about making and updating our bathroom in that style.

cheap and simple bathroom updates

Good Ol’ Spray Paint

The towel rings, light fixture, cabinet pulls, shower rod, and exhaust fan were all white or silver and I spray painted them with my favorite rustoleum matte black paint. I have gotten it Home Depot and Amazon.

Buy New/Used

I purchased the shelf on Amazon, but I chose to purchased “used” instead of new. MOST times, the “used” items are actually used, but items that have been returned. I got the 3 tiered shelf for the price of the 2 by going used. It was obviously never used before, but the packaging told it had been places.

The toilet paper dispenser, new curtain hooks, and the towel hooks were the only things we got new, new. All of them were less than $30 together.

Spackle & Paint

I painted our walls and ceiling just a fresh white. It got to fix the lines from the people before us, get rid of the holes from the old towel bars (they had so many!) and nail holes. The fresh smooth paint even made a huge difference.

Reduce

Though you can’t see here because I did before photos after I got the idea in my head, we decided to reduce the amount of things on our walls. Having more space and white makes the room feel bigger and better.
