Shiplap Fireplace Refresh

While doing our closet to mudnook update, we originally planned on covering the whole door wall in shiplap. Once the shiplap was ordered, we realized that the cuts would be no fun so we decided to stop at the closet wall and paint the door wall white. That meant we had some leftover shiplap–the perfect amount to update our fireplace.

When we first started, a friend said, “Watch out, projects tend to snowball.” I responded with, “we’re already half way to a snowman.”

Before

There was nothing wrong with our fireplace before. It had a mantle we enjoyed decorating and matched the rest of the house.

After

The update was actually really easy. We cut the shiplap (I am linking in shop the look below) to the width. We marked the studs from fireplace to ceiling. We then placed our self spacing shiplap bottom up, using our 16 gage finishing nails into the studs. We used our donated trim (similar linked in the shop the look) and painted it white and it was done!

Little work, huge difference.
