Rainbow Cloud 9 Charcuterie Birthday Party

What started as a rainbow party to celebrate my neurodivergent son. While creating the invitation in Canva, there was rainbow image with “cloud 9” on it–and Nolan is turning 9!! So Rainbow Cloud 9 was born!

Invitation

Using Canva I searched their templates and combined the wording of one with the image of another. I personalized with my favorite photo of him of late. I do have pro to choose this template and remove the background to the photo.

Fiver Party

Nolan struggles with (and always has) with opening gifts. He doesn’t understand why he has to sit still, he doesn’t really care about material things, and it was just too overwhelming. That is why when I discovered the FIVER PARTY at his 5th birthday, we have done it that way since!

Clothing

Nolan’s shirt was found on Etsy. It was tricky finding one that was not too “girly” as a boy having a rainbow party isn’t too typical and I think we found a good one! SHOP HERE

The rest of the family wore our “Celebrate Minds of all kinds” from Autism acceptance month. Rainbow and the original purpose of the party. SHOP HERE

Decor

We kept the decor relatively simple but it had a great impact! The balloon garland and rainbow tassels was one hanging kit. it took only a few minutes and I LOVE it. SHOP HERE

Nolan is NOT a sit at a meal person so when I saw a charcuterie board I knew that would be up his alley. THEN I saw making them from cardboard letters and cutting them open to be a board. I went to find giant cardboard letters and found this 9 was originally made for standing up and holding balloons but knew it would be perfect to hold my charcuterie. 3.2 feet! It did NOT include great directions but I managed it (and packing tape helped fix mistakes). Then doing the rainbow inside of all his favorites it made it so special. SHOP HERE

Nolan got the snow cone machine for a birthday gift many years ago and offering that rainbow snack was a lot of fun too! SHOP HERE

The LetterFolk TileMat was a fun one to make for this one! I have the standard mat. Colors used: Holly Berry, Terracotta Red, Marigold, Glacial Blue, Atlantic Blue, wild plum, Black SHOP HERE

Cake

We typically make the cakes and my sister-in-law decorates them, but she is 36 weeks pregnant, working 3rd shift, and we went to the cottage the weekend before a Monday party. Also, I forgot until Thursday night. SO we improvised and just ordered a cake grocery pick up. It was not a special order just a cake with chocolate drizzle and rainbow sprinkles. That didn’t look quite big enough so I found a smaller round cake with rainbow sprinkles and ordered that too, going to make a stack. The day of grocery pick up came and my cake was substituted. It was sprinkled and not quite as rainbow but who cares, sprinkles and cake Nolan is happy. I bought the frosting to put the 9 on top (it came with tips and super easy to use)

Favors

Before we even found the Cloud 9 concept we knew we were going to do rainbow, so a collection of fun rainbow activities, bags we buy in bulk for all party favors, and a tag made in canva, and we were good to go! SHOP HERE
